You have taken another step towards choosing your best birth!
What is a doula?
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth.
Why hire a doula?
Several clinical studies have shown that the continuous
support a doula provides throughout labor:
~ tends to result in shorter labors with fewer complications
~ reduces negative feelings about one’s childbirth experience
~ reduces the need for pitocin, forceps or vacuum extraction
~ reduces the requests for pain medication and epidurals
~ reduces the incidence of cesareans
Dads, Partners & Doulas
When it comes to pregnancy, birth, and parenting, today's father (or co-parent) may want to share everything with his or her partner. He or she may want to be actively involved; ease their partner’s labor pain, welcome baby at the moment of birth and help care for the newborn at home.
A birth doula can help a father (or co-parent) experience
this special time with confidence.

Here is what some of my clients have to say...
"Words cannot describe how thankful we are that we had Christine as our doula! I decided to hire a doula after feeling nervous and uneasy about the whole childbirth experience as this was my first child. Before being pregnant we did not know doulas existed and we are so grateful that they do. After finding Christine online I decided to meet her and right away we clicked. We met a few times before the big day and every time she gave me tons of information about things I did not know about or things I did not think about before as well as some relaxation sessions. I wanted the birth of or daughter to be as natural and special as possible and it was. Knowing that she was there to support my fiance and I every step of the way took so much of the pressure and nervousness away from us. On the big day Christine was only a call away and she showed up so prepared with a rolling bag full of items that will help ease the pain or help you forget the pain as much as possible for example lotions for a foot massage and hand massage. She was so supportive throughout the whole time we were in the hospital and even after the baby was born she was still calling to make sure everything was okay. Like I said before, words cannot describe how thankful we are to Christine for her services and making us feel so comfortable every step of the way. Christine was so awesome and knows so much about this that my nurses complimented me for being so prepared for our daughter's birth and I owe that to Christine!" E.R.
"Christine is, without a doubt, one of the BEST memories of my birth. We had the best plans (took natural childbirth classes, hired a doula, wrote a birth plan), but the baby had other plans... and Christine was there with us every step of the way. From getting to us immediately when we needed her, throughout deciding what the best plan of action was (c-section), throughout my surgery, recovery, those precious few hours with the baby, the most crucial first few weeks post-partum, and now even months later Christine has been the BEST support system ever for this new mom. She is knowledgable, professional, caring, thorough, and she is willing to do ANYTHING to help. I highly recommend Christine as a doula and friend. She has become an integral part of our family's life, and we're better for knowing her! Hiring a doula was one of my best decisions I made to prepare for childbirth, and Christine was the right doula for us! I highly suggest if you're on the fence about hiring a doula, meet with Christine - she will answer all your questions, and you will immediately fall in love with the idea of having her calming presence with you on your most-special day!" J.B.
"Words can't express how grateful I am to have had Christine present at the birth of my second baby. Although I was hoping for a 100% natural VBAC, complications required that a routine 37 week appointment, to which Christine accompanied me, result in an immediate c-section. Neither of us were prepared for this, but Christine took it all in stride and put me first through the entire chaotic chain of events. My doctors did nothing to conceal their wariness about the presence of a doula (they had never had a doula present at a birth) -- but Christine negotiated the delicate balance between serving me and working with the doctors with utter grace. Christine's presence was utterly soothing and reassuring during the birth and the baby's subsequent hospitalization in the NICU. Both of my doctors made a point of praising Christine, even saying they would recommend her to future patients. In short, neither I nor my doctors could have asked for more in a doula.
Being a doula is truly her calling." T.D.
